About the Mt. Fuji International Marathon CharityAbout Charity

The Mt. Fuji International Marathon also hosts a charity fun run of approximately 10.5km that is easy to participate in.
This also involves making a donation to the "Mount Fuji World Cultural Heritage Preservation Promotion Fund," established by Fujikawaguchiko Town to preserve the natural environment of Mount Fuji, which became a World Cultural Heritage site in 2013, and to preserve the constituent assets of the World Cultural Heritage site around Mount Fuji.
To ensure the protection and preservation of the rich natural environment of Fujikawaguchiko Town, where the event will be held, 223 yen per participant from the charity fun run's entry fee will be donated.

Environmental activities at the Mt. Fuji International MarathonAbout Sustainability

In the naturally rich Mount Fuji area, the course of the Mount Fuji Marathon is designated as part of the "Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park," and there is a demand for permanent protection of the natural environment and maintenance of the landscape.

The Mt. Fuji International Marathon, a unique full marathon held within a national park in Japan, aims to be a sustainable event in order to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Efforts to reduce wasteReduce & Reuse

Regarding the recycling of paper cups at water stations

At the Mt. Fuji International Marathon, we will recycle the large amount of paper cup waste generated at the water stations. Runners are requested to dispose of their paper cups in the designated trash cans at the water stations.
Paper cups are recycled into toilet paper and other paper products.
We appreciate your cooperation.

Sustainability (Waste Reduction ②)

Upcycled thinned timber (unwanted wood)
Winners of the Mt. Fuji International Marathon will receive an original award plaque.

For the Mt. Fuji International Marathon, we upcycled (reused) thinned timber and leftover wood from logging and construction to create award plaques for the top 24 finishers in the full marathon and the top 6 finishers in each category (men and women) for the Lake Kawaguchi lap.
This original shield promotes Japanese wood and calligraphy to the world, while also being environmentally conscious through resource recycling.

Runners, please make use of the race's original bib number holders!

Safety pins are essential for attaching athlete bibs (number cards) to clothing when participating in marathon races.
It was sealed in a plastic bag, and that bag remains as trash.
The safety pins themselves are given out each time and are disposable.
Safety pins will not be distributed at the Mt. Fuji International Marathon.

Clothing recycling initiatives (2025 Games)Reuse & Recycle

We collect unwanted running wear.

On the day before and the day of the competition, we will set up clothing collection boxes at the venue to collect unwanted running wear.
Additionally, clothing worn for warmth will be collected at the starting point and at a "clothing collection area" set up approximately 2km after the start.

The collected clothing is sorted and recycled according to its material. For example, 100% polyester clothing is recycled into recycled polyester using JEPLAN's unique chemical recycling technology, "BRING Technology™," and reborn as raw material for new clothing and other products.

Clothing Collection Overview
Clothing collection boxes will be set up at the BRING booth at the start/finish line of the Funatsuhama Full Marathon/Lake Kawaguchi Loop.
Clothing collection areas will be set up at the starting point and along the course after the start.
